This position is responsible for maintaining accurate and organized financial records across both the corporate franchisor entity and multiple independently owned franchise locations, each operating with separate books. The bookkeeper will manage and reconcile monthly bank and credit card accounts, oversee accounts payable and receivable, and ensure all financial data is complete, consistent, and audit-ready.
Key duties include tracking and reporting franchise fees, royalties, marketing fund contributions, and inter-company transactions between the franchisor and franchisees. The position also requires preparing monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Maintaining clean, reliable books is essential to support business decisions and ensure compliance.
The bookkeeper will work closely with an external CPA for monthly or quarterly reviews, year-end tax preparation, and ongoing compliance support. They will follow and help document standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to monthly close, franchise reporting, and fee processing, while maintaining well-organized financial documentation within shared systems. The role also supports onboarding new franchise locations into standardized accounting systems and processes.
The position utilizes Xero accounting software, with separate accounts for each entity, along with shared documentation platforms such as Google Drive. Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines independently are critical. Candidates should have at least four years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a multi-entity environment, and be comfortable collaborating with leadership and handling confidential financial information.
This is a part-time role (20–25 hours per week) with long-term growth potential as the franchise expands. Compensation starts at $25 per hour, with opportunities for increased responsibility and advancement.
