CRAIG –
Payroll was not an area that I had a lot of detailed experience with. However, the course and the exams at fhe end of each session, did help make “what can be a complicated topic”, easier to understand.

Good. Questions were not always clear. Some assumptions were made rather than giving all of the facts.

RHONDA –
With constant changes in the execution of payroll, primarily IRS, SS, and state requirements, it may behoove business to look into 3rd party payroll service/specialists who focus solely in this area. The coerced internet based reporting and inability to guarantee secure/private transmissions (over the web) continues to put business and all data entered at risk. Nonetheless, this course is practical and as comprehensive as a payroll course can be. It offers numerous sample forms with instruction, links to updated payroll information, and covers the basic entries required to help keep your payroll in line. This course also discusses different types of employee/non-employee status, as well as independent contractor pay. A course beneficial to anyone in business – not just those in the bookkeeping/accounting fields. CPEC’s are available, for this course, towards the CB title/certification as well!

There are some errors in this book. They are obvious so you know your answer is correct and the book is not but otherwise its well thought out.

The lessons were explained clearly and adequate problems given; an easy course to complete. It did not go into much details about sick leave, maternity leave, etc. which I think would be in Payroll II.

Book could use a better explanation of lookback period for a new business especially when they start business after the July start of the lookback period. Also a chart with the payment dates for the monthly and quarterly payments. Also a chart with the due date for 940,*941,944 etc. This course has a lot of dates and something that kind of brings them together for a quick reference would be good.
