African American Foundation in Washington DC seeks a part-time bookkeeper to join their finance team
Company: Educational foundation based in Washington DC, supporting scholastic achievement, charitable and educational service programs, and research initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Keep track of accounts payable and accounts receivable for the grant program.
Develop, plan, coordinate and implement strategies that reflects the goals of the grant program specifically related to the finances.
Maintain the grant’s financial policies.
Work collaboratively with institutional representatives to support the financial program needs and execution strategy.
Track, budget, and organize and program expenses.
Work with the Program Assistant and Accountant to manage the budget, respond to financial requests, track expenditures, and process transactions associated with the grant program.
Establish and maintain a centralized data management system while updating records related to finances.
Generate accounts payable aging reports; request and maintain vendor information for tax reporting purposes and respond to any vendor inquiries.
Perform other related projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
One to three years of finance experience. Previous financial experience in a not-for-profit, preferred
A working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must be proficient in Quickbooks
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Mineral Tree (a Plus)
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Hours/Schedule: 15 hours/ week onsite two days/ week (can be half days, one day remote . Days and actual schedule are flexible
