Is it okay for a recipient of a paper check to take a picture or that check and send it as an attachment in an email? My company has had several instances of fraudulent checks cashed on our account over the last few years. I think we've had to set up new bank accounts twice in three years so the security of the account is a high priority for me. We now have positive pay protection on the most active account but having a client take a picture and float it around is very upsetting to me. I don't see any reason why this would be necessary. I as the controller for the company made out the check myself, I know what it looks like and can easily find it to reference if necessary. And there is no reason whatsoever that I can see, that a regular employee would need to view our checks with our banking information. . Is this okay? Is it okay to request a client never do this again?
